Members of Cambridge Youth Opera have been discovering ancient objects and ideas at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and are bringing them together in an exciting story of ghosts, magic and mystery, inspired by the 7th century burial of a young girl.
Who was she? Where did she come from and how did she come to be in Cambridge? Our young writers have mined the archaeology and added their own, unique ideas. The Museum also introduced us to a child’s footprint, preserved in a Roman tile and the ideas of fires which never go out. They are weaving the ideas of footprints frozen in time and sacred fires into their tale to create a unique story. A competition for young composers will bring their words to life.
You’ll find out more about the project, the story and what comes next, with storytelling and music from the opera-to-be.
