Donated blood is an essential medicine that saves lives every day. So how can we make blood donation a better experience for the wonderful people who volunteer to give?
Researchers from Cambridge’s Blood and Transplant Unit began the STRIDES trial in 73 donation centres across England, testing whether four interventions could improve donor outcomes. In this activity, you’ll become a simulated participant in the trial, joining 1.4 million real-life donors who have contributed invaluable evidence. You’ll navigate each stage of the donation process, and along the way, learn how we solve scientific mysteries using large-scale studies like these. Spoiler alert: there’s chocolate!
