Join the programmes and institutes of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre in the CAST Building to get hands-on with our ground-breaking science as we tell the full story of the cancer research being undertaken by scientists and clinicians across Cambridge! With our fundamental researchers, you’ll create funky headbands to see how proteins are made and will go fishing to find epigenetic clues to cancer in our haystack. Will you be triumphant in breaking the pipetting code and who will make the best blood soup?! Take part in some funfair favourites including Hook a Duck and Spot the Difference, with a scientific twist to see how we screen for and detect cancer, and try running your own clinical trial in our Giant Monopoly game. You can practise your clinical skills by performing both open and keyhole surgery, and can explore current cancer treatments in our mini-museum. You’ll even unravel the mysteries of wee and can see how digestion is affected by cancer. We’ll also be looking to the future of cancer research and care. Step inside a virtual reality tumour, tackle personalised medicine in our tabletop escape room, and find out how artificial intelligence is revolutionising research. Finally, you’ll discover how Cambridge is changing the story of cancer with our plans to build a new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. Our interactive exhibits include hands-on experiments, informative demonstrations and plenty of fun activities for children and adults of all ages!
