What if you could turn the worthless into something of value?
Join us for a hands-on workshop where we take Venezuelan banknotes and transform them into a work of art. For decades, artists have reclaimed discarded or devalued currency as a medium to highlight social issues, protest systemic injustice, and question what we consider valuable.
In this 2-hour workshop, we'll tear apart these banknotes inviting you to explore ARTivism; a form of art that responds to political, social, and environmental challenges. Together, we’ll create a collaborative collage that embodies themes of worth and social impact.
The workshop will be led by Katherine Hasegawa, a Venezuelan ARTivist who will share stories from her homeland, shedding light on the country’s socio-economic struggles. Katherine will introduce participants to ARTivism as well as the Money-Art movement. For more information about Katherine's previous contributions, please visit www.IdeasForVenezuela.org.
Important: This workshop will be filmed ??
As part of an ongoing research project, we will be capturing workshop activities on film. The project also explores how people would use £1 million to create social impact, and your participation in the discussion and creative process may be included in the final film. By attending, you consent to being filmed as part of this research initiative.
This is your chance to be part of these artistic movements, and contribute to a larger conversation about art, money and social impact. Reserve your spot now!
No artistic experience necessary – just curiosity, open-mindedness, and a willingness to try something unconventional.
Note: This is a 2-hour workshop. Each session follows the same format, so please choose just one to attend.
