Christ's College, Fitzgerald Music Room, St Andrew's Street, CB2 3BU
Given the central role of music within nineteenth-century models of knowledge, its not surprising that many writers and philosophers composed music.
Musicologists are familiar with the writings of composers such as E. T. A. Hoffmann, Robert Schumann, Richard Wagner, Cesar Cui, and Arnold Schoenberg; yet few are aware of the compositions of celebrated writers, from Friedrich Nietzsche to Johanna Kinkle, Theodor Uhlig to Hugo Riemann.
This short concert includes a selection of Lieder and piano music by F. J. Fétis, Eduard Hanslick, Johanna Kinkel, Friedrich Nietzsche &Theodor Uhlig
Featuring:
Hannah Dienes-Williams (soprano); Harry Gant (tenor)
Peter Asimov & David Trippett (piano)
