6:00pm-8:30pm on Wednesday 19 March
MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, 15 Chaucer Road, CB2 7EF
The MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (MRC CBU) is a research centre for advancing our knowledge of human cognition, with programmes that cover childhood development, mental health, ageing and dementia, neurological and sensory disorders, and fundamental cognitive neuroscience. We investigate fundamental aspects of brain function such as memory, attention, perception, language and emotion. Alongside pure research, we are active in translating research findings to improve health and wellbeing.
The first part of our open evening will provide guests with the opportunity to get involved with fun and engaging hands-on experiments and demonstrations such as voice and hearing demos, test your memory games and a brain quiz. We will also be hosting some short tours of the Unit’s MEG and MRI facilities (tour places are limited). There will also be an opportunity to chat to our scientists and learn more about the Unit’s research.
From 7:30pm, our team of expert scientists will deliver four short talks on current research studies and findings.
The experiments, tours and talks are suitable for all ages.
Prior booking is not required to attend this event. The maximum capacity is 100 people on a first come first served basis. Places on the MEG and MRI short tours are limited and will be bookable upon arrival on a first come first serve basis.
