Most of us have heard of high blood pressure, but many of us don’t know what our blood pressure is or whether it is in the healthy range. High blood pressure accounts for around half of all strokes and a quarter of heart attacks and can be caused by a range of different factors including genetics, excess body weight, salt intake and certain drugs. High blood pressure can also occur in pregnancy, where it can have very serious consequences for a mother and baby.
If you want to know more about high blood pressure or would like to have your own blood pressure checked, join us at our blood pressure awareness stall run by researchers from Cambridge Cardiovascular and the POPPY (pregnancy) study. We will help you to understand what high blood pressure is, what might cause it and how it can be treated. You will also have a chance to talk to researchers and clinicians with expertise in blood pressure.
A section of the stall will focus on high blood pressure in pregnancy and will highlight some of the research being done in this important area of women’s health.

Booking/Registration is: RECOMMENDED
